2011 American Idol Elimination Brackets

We are now to the TOP 13 of American Idol's Season 10. Time to breakout the 2011 Elimination Bracket Challenge.

Anyone want to play?

Think of the NCAA basketball bracket done during the March Madness Tourney... this is similar but American Idol style. The goal is to predict who will be the next American Idol.

Bracket Entry Deadline:
Wednesday, March 9th – 6pm CST
(That’s before the Top 13 sings again)

To Play:
Turn in brackets by noon, Wednesday March 9th. Turn your answers in via email (verbal.vomit.blog@gmail.com) using the bracket below or by posting on the comments section of this blog post.

YOUR goal in this elimination bracket challenge is to select every Idol contestant that will REMAIN each week, ultimately choosing the NEXT American Idol.

If you are filling out the bracket supplied below, do NOT write down the person you believe will not make that Top list, only write the folks down you believe will stay each week. If you want to leave your choices on the blog post or email without the bracket, you'll write you answers opposite - go to the comments section and list the names of who will leave each week. For example: 12. Casey 11. Thia, 10. etc - listing the person that will be voted out and unable to proceed in that top X week.

Let me know if you need more clarification, I'll gladly explain. Ultimately I'll post everyone's selections on my first American Idol update for all to see whether you email or go ahead and post it yourself.

Point System:
Each week you will get points for each person you choose correctly to stay in the game. Therefore, if you get the right person out of the game from the start, the first week you can accumulate up to 12 points. If you get the wrong person, you'll only get 11 points. The point accumulation will continue throughout the entire competition.

Each week, Mrs. McGoo (Verbal Vomit) will tally up your points according to how many Idol contestants you correctly picked to be in that TOP round. Every two weeks the points available for a correct pick will increase, as seen on the bottom of your bracket sheet.

A tally of scores or scoring updates will be posted every week on Verbal Vomit – so check back to see how you’re doing in the running.

Winner:
Person with the most points at the end, WINS.
If there is a tie in points, the person with the actual American Idol pick WINS.
If there is still a tie, the person with the most fully correct weeks WINS. If there is still a tie, I'll pick a number from 1-50 and those who have tied will guess what number - closest to the number I choose WINS.

PRIZE:

Winner will receive a $10 Gift Card
to their choice: Target, Best Buy, or Starbucks.

2nd place receives a $5 Gift Card
to their choice: Target, Best Buy, or Starbucks.

American Idol 2011 Elimination Brackets
(Feel free to use the bracket below for your own AI competition with friends - it's fun and a great way to keep up with the show on a weekly basis - adds a little flavor to the mix)
American Idol Elimination Brackets 2011

Let the games begin. Again, I'll post weekly updates on how everyone sits in the standings.

PS. You don't ACTUALLY have to watch the show regularly to play (Mr. McGoo and myself have yet to watch a single episode this season) - make a guess at it if you want, I don't mind... you may even do better because you won't over analyze it like the regular watchers will do. Often it's a combination of who American likes popularity wise AND who sings well... so the choices definitely get tricky at times! Enjoy!

I'll leave it short and sweet about Aaron's departure - it did not surprise anyone in our bracket competition... most folks had him gone a long time again. But Candace's quote sums it up best:

American Idol Weekly Results: Top 6 to 5

Well, my predicted American Idol in the AI Elimination 2010 Bracket Challenge is gone... America didn't vote enough for her (neither did I because I don't vote), so we said goodbye to Siobhan Magnus last night.

Ironically this was the same lady that "Vote for the Worst" just decided to support when Tim Urban finally parted with the stage and a week later - tata Magnus. Interestingly enough, (probably very interesting to some folks in this competition that have him winning), they have chosen MICHAEL to be their go to guy next week... will "Vote for the Worst" be his curse also? Only time will tell.

I really believe Siobhan had the pipes - that girl could sing. She came into the competition seemingly knowing who she was and being true to her oddness - it worked at first, but she might have peaked too quickly in the competition. I would also have to say the song choices for her in the latter part of the competition were not always great choices and caused some trouble. Additionally, I will agree with Mr. McGoo on this one, he predicted over the last several weeks that the "weird factor" was going to be Siobhan's downfall. I would guess that the majority of AI watchers are going to be more straight laced than the quirkiness Siobhan had to offer. When you walk out in butterfly decor and military boots, you better hit every note, every time to not get a strange look and turn people away.... that didn't happen the last few weeks.

Also, I will quote Riser on this one:
"When your dad says you're peculiar you must be a pretty odd person....We'll miss the high notes Siobhan!!!!!!"

Good luck Siobhan!

Here are your weekly AI Elimination Bracket Results:

1st: Allison - 96 pts - Lee is her AI pick - she picked this week's decision correctly
2nd:
  • Josh - 95 pts - Crystal is his AI pick
  • Mrs. McGoo - 95 pts - had Siobhan as her AI. Uh oh!
3rd: Kelly - 94 pts - had Siobhan as her AI. Uh oh!
4th: Mr. McGoo - 91 pts - Lee is Mr. McGoo's AI pick
5th:
  • Alan - 90 pts - Michael is his AI pick
  • Candace - 90 pts - had Katie as her AI. uh oh!
6th: UFrank - 87 pts - Crystal is UFrank's AI pick
7th: Leon - 86 pts - had Siobhan as his AI. Uh oh!
8th: Cindy - 84 pts - Michael is her AI pick
9th: Riser - 82 pts - Michael is his AI pick
10th: James - 77 pts - had Katie as his AI. uh oh!
11th: Julian - 69 pts - had Didi as his AI. Uh oh!

Highest possible points (perfect brackets) = 114 points

American Idol Weekly Results: Top 7 to 6

We knew it would happen SOONER or LATER, but America finally said goodbye to the smiley boy, Tim. Although he seems like a very nice guy - this was NOT the next American Idol - so no one was really hurt in our competition by his departure. Not much to say more than that... so....

Here are your weekly AI Elimination Bracket Results:

1st: Allison - 80 pts - Lee is Allison's AI pick
2nd:
  • Josh - 79 pts - Crystal is Josh's AI pick
  • Mrs. McGoo - 79 pts - Siobhan is Mrs. McGoo's AI pick
3rd:
  • Candace - 78 pts - Candace's AI pick is gone - Katie
  • Kelly - 78 pts - Siobhan is Kelly's AI pick
4th:
  • Mr. McGoo - 75 pts - Lee is Mr. McGoo's AI pick
  • UFrank - 75 pts - Crystal is UFrank's AI pick
5th:
  • Leon - 74 pts
  • Alan - 74 pts
6th: Cindy - 72 pts

American Idol Weekly Results: Top 9 to 7

Due to the judges save last week, America said goodbye to not one, but TWO Idol contestants tonight. The competition went from the Top 9 to 7 contestants left to compete for the prize.

We first said goodbye to Andrew Garcia. Although he started his AI journey solid with an awesome remix of "Straight Up" by Paula Abul, Andrew never seemed to find his solid footing on the big Idol stage. It was no surprise to me this evening that he got the boot, best of luck of Andrew.

In addition, Idol said goodbye to the youngest female contestant of the bunch, Katie Stevens. Katie's departure will definitely make some changes in the AI Elimination Bracket Results as a few folks had her going all the way. Although Katie sang well this week, I believe America didn't buy into the song... I walked away feeling it was a little cheesy, even though the vocals were good. And then you have "vote for the worst" securing Tim Urban's spot, as well as him performing for the teenyboppers with a love song.

Before the elimination show, I had shared with a coworker that I figured Andrew, Aaron, and Katie would be on the chopping block - knowing Tim had secured a spot with his performance this week and the vote for the worst campaign. I was surprised to see Aaron saved quickly during the evening and Michael back into the bottom again - if Michael doesn't pick it up - a few more AI Elimination Bracket contestants might be in trouble. Only time will tell. I sure wish Tim was gone - he's not in the same league as the other folks, but so goes the vote from America, I guess.

Here are your weekly AI Elimination Bracket Results:

1st: Candace - 66 pts - C is in trouble after this week because Katie was her AI
2nd: Allison - 65 pts - Lee is Allison's AI pick
3rd:
  • Josh - 64 pts
  • Mrs. McGoo - 64 pts
4th: Kelly - 63 pts - got the MOST pts this round - 18 pts which means 6 out 7 correct
5th:
  • Mr. McGoo - 60 pts
  • James - 60 pts - James had Katie as his AI choice
  • UFrank - 60 pts
  • Cindy - 60 pts
6th:
  • Leon - 59 pts
  • Alan - 59 pts
7th:
  • Julian - 55 pts
  • Riser - 55 pts

Highest possible points (perfect brackets) = 76 points

American Idol Weekly Results: 2nd Chances

When I heard about last night's results ---- American "choosing" to send home Big Mike over Tim Urban, I about fell out of my chair. Seriously?! How is this kid still in the game?! Although he's a cute kid, always smiles, seems relatively like a very nice guy, and had a great response to Kara's criticism about his constant smiling (could learn something from him there), in relation to the singing competition -HE'S HORRIBLE... he's the farthest from the "next American Idol"!

And then I remembered... there are folks out there who desire to sabotage the good singers and push along the ones that are lacking. Meet "Vote for the Worst" - as I went to their site today to make sure my suspicions were correct, I saw what I guessed...

So ladies and gents - THAT IS WHY TIM URBAN is still around and other folks are long gone. They're getting folks to vote - meaning if you want him gone and someone else to stay, we've gotta start calling too. I admit I've yet to vote, and probably won't considering I watch American Idol on the DVR regularly, so I shouldn't REALLY have a right to complain. But still... come on!

Two folks go home next week, so everyone better bring their A- Game. Mr. McGoo thought he was tasting steak last night, but the AI judges saved Big Mike. So with that being said...

Here are your weekly AI Elimination Bracket Results, folks that have Michael still in the game get the points for him this week because of the SAVE, folks that had Michael out this week get 3 points because they had American's vote correct:

1st: Candace: 51 pts
For those that are interested, Candace's A-Idol choice is Katie.

2nd: Allison - 50 pts
3rd:
  • Josh: 49 pts
  • Mrs. McGoo: 49 pts

4th: James: 48 pts

5th:
  • Mr. McGoo - 45 pts
  • Kelly: 45 pts
  • UFrank: 45 pts
  • Cindy: 45 pts

6th:
  • Leon: 44 pts
  • Alan: 44 pts

7th: Julian: 43 pts (Had Michael out this week so got an extra point)
8th: Riser: 40 pts

Highest possible points (perfect brackets) = 55 points

American Idol Weekly Results: 10 to 9

Well, American Idol sent home a possible goodie, while allowing a "can't really sing, but I'm cute to the teeny-boppers" to stay. But hey, that's the story of American Idol and what seriously makes the Bracket Elimination Challenge just that - CHALLENGING. Only two folks out of the 13 participating in the American Idol Bracket Elimination Challenge chose correctly with America last night... goodbye Didi.

I knew the judges were not going to use the save on Didi... she's been too inconsistent and they really believe she had "lost her way". She had the look, but couldn't seem to put the rest of it all together. Best of luck Didi.

Here are your weekly AI Elimination Bracket Results, as well as the number of additional weeks the contestant will be plagued by America's decision last night:

1st: Allison - 36 pts - 5 weeks
For those that are interested, Allison's A-Idol choice is Lee.

2nd: Candace: 35 pts - Picked this week correctly!
3rd: Josh: 35 pts - Picked this week correctly!
4th: Mrs. McGoo: 35 pts - 3 weeks

5th: James: 34 pts - 5 weeks

6th: Mr. McGoo - 33 pts - 3 weeks
7th: Kelly: 33 pts - 3 weeks
8th: UFrank: 33 pts - 4 weeks
9th: Cindy: 33 pts - 6 weeks (never saw the show before she filled out the bracket)

10th: Leon: 32 pts - 1 week
11th: Alan: 32 pts - 3 weeks

12th: Riser: 30 pts - 2 weeks
13th: Julian: 30 pts - 8 weeks and he just lost his A-Idol (never saw the show before he filled out the bracket)

Highest possible points (perfect brackets) = 39 points.

American Idol Weekly Results: 11 to 10

After a dreadful performance Tuesday, American Idol says goodbye to Paige tonight. The top 10 contestants are now established and we now know the ten folks that will travel on the American Idol tour this summer.

In my opinion, America made the correct vote tonight - however I truly thought a few could go after Tuesday's performances. I hope these folks get better as they get more comfortable on stage - so far about half of them are lacking in their performances. Ready to be wowed a bit more!

What did tonight do to our American Idol Elimination Brackets?

2010 American Idol Elimination Brackets

So after an interesting elimination announcement tonight on American Idol, we are now to the TOP 12 and the American Idol 2010 Elimination Bracket Challenge can begin.

Anyone want to play?

Think of the NCAA basketball bracket done during the March Madness Tourney... this is similar but American Idol style. The goal is to predict who will be the next American Idol.

To Play: Turn in brackets by end of the day (midnight) Monday, March 15th. Turn your answers in via email (using the bracket made below) or by posting on the comments section of this blog post.

If you want to leave your choices on the blog post, you'll write you answers opposite - go to the comments section and list the names of who will leave each week. For example: 11. Casey, 10. Crystal, 9. etc - listing the person that will be voted out and unable to proceed in that top X week.

Let me know if you need more clarification, I'll gladly explain. Ultimately I'll post everyone's selections on the comments section of this post for all to see whether you email or go ahead and post it yourself.

Point System: Each week you will get points for each person you choose correctly to stay in the game. Therefore, if you get the right person out of the game from the start, the first week you can accumulate up to 11 points. If you get the wrong person, you'll only get 10 points. The point accumulation will continue throughout the entire competition.

Each week, Mrs. McGoo will tally up your points according to how many Idols you correctly picked to be in that TOP round. Every two weeks the points available for a correct pick will increase, as seen on the bottom of your bracket sheet.

Winner: Person with the most points at the end, WINS. If there is a tie in points, the person with the actual American Idol pick WINS. If there is still a tie, the person with the most fully correct weeks WINS. If there is still a tie, I'll pick a number from 1-50 and those who have tied will guess what number - closest to the number I choose WINS.

PRIZE: Winner gets bragging rights and a choice of one of three $10 gift card options: Starbucks, Target, or Home Depot.

American Idol 2010 Elimination Brackets

Let the games begin. I'll post weekly updates on how everyone sits in the standings.

PS. You don't ACTUALLY have to watch the show regularly to play - make a guess at it if you want, I don't mind... you may even do better because you won't over analyze it like the regular watchers will do. Parenthood

NO. I am not pregnant.

Sorry I had to start my post with those words, because I know some of the folks that read my blog and simply by creating the title as I have, the question or insinuation will occur. Trust me. So I set the records straight from the start of the post. Now onto actually writing what I want to verbally vomit about.

Parenthood is the title of a new TV show on NBC... we are only two episodes in and I'm pretty sure that I'm hooked. Like we need another show to watch, but I love it so far. Cracks me up, makes me smile, relate, empathize, etc. The characters are awesome and the dynamic of the entire family is a hoot.

Here is what you have going on in the dynamic of the show if you're interested. Characters are below... you have a mom & dad (Zeek & Camille Braverman) with four adult child: 2 girls and 2 boys. One boy, Crosby is the slacker, still trying to put his life together, figure out what he wants to do, who he wants to be with, does he ever want to settle down? The second boy, Adam is the guy that seems to have it all together, a family of his own with a beautiful wife (Kristina) and two children (girl, Haddie and boy, Max). There is a dynamic to his own family all on its own - teenage daughter and younger son just diagnosed with Aspergers syndrome. You can tell Adam is the oldest of the bunch, he holds that first born stance in the family for sure. Then you have the daughter that is "I am woman, here me roar". Julia is a lawyer and even hyphenated her name with her husband's rather than taking his name completely. Her family extension is living out the over working mom life, along with trying to balance time with her daughter, Syndey and her hubby, Joel is Mr. Dad and seems to be left out of the mix with his wife at times. And the last, but not least daughter, Sarah is the child that married the wrong man and lost her way. The first episode begins with Sarah and her two children (Amber, girl and Drew, boy) moving back to Sarah's hometown to move in with her parents looking for a fresh start. And there you have the Braverman family... welcome to Parenthood.

Looking forward to the next episode.

Upside to Sickly

So the McGoo house is under the weather. My hubby is currently in bed, missing classes in the hope of finding a recovery from the ickyness that has plagued him since Thursday evening. This morning marked my first morning to skip working out since our new routine. I must say it made a difference that I didn't workout. I wish I had, but when I woke this morning still highly medicated on the NiQuil and Tylenol Cold & Sinus I took last night to find rest, I figured it best that I fore go the workout this morning. I hope to be back on track tomorrow.

The upside of being sickly is that regardless if we're sick or not, the LOST FINAL SEASON premier is tonight - HAPPY DAY! Ultimate Fighter - Season 10

Tonight started the new season of the reality TV show: The Ultimate Fighter (Season 1o). The past seasons of this show are partly responsible for my current affection for the UFC. It's a show in which I not only get the luxury of getting to know up and coming fighters in the industry, but also learn better the personalities and stories of current UFC fighters who are the "coaches" of the rookies.

This season, the focus is the HEAVYWEIGHT division. At first glance, I'm a bit apprehensive about the entire heavyweight division. I tend to believe their fights are slower and more boring. The fighters tend to look like they tire out quicker than some of the other weight divisions, and overall the fights are not that exciting until someone gets knocked out. Think underwater fighting - that slow sometimes. Therefore, it would make sense that I've been a bit unsure about the brand new Ultimate Fighter season involving heavyweights. However, these apprehensions have been put to the side tonight... for one reason, and for one reason only at present... RAMPAGE.

I love this guy... he cracks me up! The facial expressions, the wise cracks, the sense of humor, he's hilarious. I look forward to hopefully being proved wrong regarding the heavyweight division, but in the meantime, at least I know I'll continue to want to see this season because our Memphis own, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson is a part of the festivities. Let the games begin.

Only my hubby...

This afternoon this email came out from my hubby, addressed to a group of our friends, both male and female:

Subject: I'm in love...
In response to my wife, who turned to me when watching Big Brother the other night and told me the contestant "Jeff" was incredibly hot.

Gents...

Football is upon us and with it comes....

I love you honey! :)

I thought this was hilarious and couldn't help but share. The "Jeff" my hubby is referring to is this yummy guy right here (below). Very nice. And yeah, my man is right, Erin Andrews is also hot and I think she reports well too.

American Idol Finale

Your 2009 American Idol
KRIS ALLEN!

In my opinion, last night was by far the best American Idol finale EVER! Man that was eventful and fully entertaining! From the exquisite list of performers that played with the top 13 AI contestants, to the awards ceremonies for best male, best female, and best attitude, to the final result... WOW, what a show!

Everywhere I go this morning, folks are talking about American Idol. It started with the TODAY show this am, then moved to the statuses all over Facebook, to the morning radio station I listen to on the way to the office, and then as soon as I walked into work - American Idol was on the lips of all my coworkers. This show made an impact on everyone it seems. Over 100 million votes cast to determine this year's AI winner, and I was not disappointed with the outcome. Wow! Seriously, I think regardless if Adam or Kris had won, I would have still been very impressed with this years finale, and still fully entertained. Congrats Kris.

The performances were fabulous. Danny Gokey with Lionel Richie - SWEET! Queen - Adam could totally be their "new" lead singer! Adam with KISS - could it fit any better?! Carlos Santana with the whole Top 13 crowd - I like! Steve Martin debuting a song he wrote while jamming on the banjo with Michael and Megan - surprising I enjoyed that. Lil with Queen Latifah... Black Eyed Peas, Fergie, the list goes on and on. Talk about an intense lineup. The live crowd was definitely entertained and I'm glad I got to see it!

Even with all these amazing appearances, the highlight of the entire night, though, had to be the entire interaction of the "binki girl". Hilarious... from the moment Ryan announced her to the point that Kara sheepishly ran off stage to once again get fully dressed, I was cracking up. Obviously the chick got some boob enhancements over the last few months, no once could deny that, and I loved how Ryan did not stray from comically making a point that he noticed too! And the look on that girls face when Kara came from behind and OUT SANG her! Wow Kara has a voice! You could see the binki girls face fuming from the surprise of Kara stealing the stage, as she attempted to sing over her again and AI finally cut her mic. ha ha! Loved it!

Ps. I was sort of in heaven last night when Kris Allen played with Keith Urban. Hubba Hubba! I love me some Keith Urban, ask my hubby. And I swear I had that little 12 year old girlie smile on my face the moment they announced that Kris Allen and Keith Urban were playing together. Very nice. ;)

AI Elimination Bracket Standings - 10

Top 3 becomes Final 2 TONIGHT!

After an intense battle Tuesday night, Adam, Kris, and Danny had to sit through the excruciating, drawn out dramatics of Ryan Seacrest to find out who would stay and who would go tonight. I first want to give MY take on the songs and performances that unfolded Tuesday night. I LOVED Kris Allen's performances. Both of them! I definitely enjoyed "Apologize" even though it was a similar version of the original, but I LOVED his second performance of "Heartless". Wow. I'd buy a cd from this guy. In addition, I really enjoyed the beautiful rendition of "You are So Beautiful" by Danny Gokey. That raspy voice and those beautiful words put into a great format - ewww la la! It was fabulous! I always enjoy watching Danny perform, but I can admit that his "Dance Little Sister" performance wasn't to die for. I still smiled throughout it, though. :) I would buy a Danny Gokey cd.

And there is Adam Lambert. Okay, seriously, I completely believe this guy has a talent and is capable of much,... he'll make albums and have people that buy them. HOWEVER... I can't handle the screeching and the tongue sticking out while he screeches. Seriously. Way over done, and I often tune out halfway through his performances. Too theatrical and over the top and screechy for me. I would NOT purchase a Adam Lambert cd.

Now that is off my chest, let me get back to what America decided. P.S. I voted once for Kris last night, and once for Danny.

After all the votes: Unfortunately,
Danny Gokey leaves the competition!

Therefore, KRIS ALLEN & ADAM LAMBERT are the FINAL TWO!

So with these new results, that sums our competition up. There are NO MORE POINTS AVAILABLE TO ANYONE. No one has Adam labeled the winner OR Kris! Therefore the standings below are the FINAL standings.

Updated Standings:
  • Ashley C - 110 pts
  • Mr. McGoo - 106 pts
  • Kelly L - 105 pts
  • Steve R - 104 pts
  • Nicole T - 97 pts
  • Candace B -95 pts
  • Laura R - 91 pts
  • Erin Marie - 73 pts
  • Katy B - 73 pts
CONGRATS ASHLEY C!
YOU ARE THE WINNER OF OUR
2009 AMERICAN IDOL BRACKET COMPETITION!!!

It looks like a Louisville girl beat a Kentucky boy this go around. When I told Mr. McGoo the news he said, "Guess I'll catch some Cardinals while in KY and fry some up for our winner's provided meal". I don't think he's ever made that before, so that will be a first and should be rather interesting.

Thanks everyone for playing! I'm looking forward to the finale.
